Double amputee Aristotle Domingo is not one to let his disability get in the way of living his best life.
00:09.1
The Filipino-Canadian's left leg was amputated in 2017 due to a blood infection, while his right leg was also amputated two years later.
00:18.4
But for Domingo, losing both his legs pushed him to live an even more active life as a runner and a para-athlete.
00:25.3
In the years that followed, he also became a commercial model, an actor, and now a fashion model.
00:31.4
So I became a double baloney amputee and since then my life has really taken off.
00:36.5
I'm an athlete now, I'm a national classified athlete, I'm an actor, and now I'm apparently taking on the modeling world with walking the Vancouver Fashion Week.
00:44.4
And I found a way to think about it in a positive light.
00:48.1
And I think that just opened up to all of these experiences which I am thankful and blessed for.
00:52.0
Domingo recently walked the runway for All Else,
00:54.8
a maker and designer of prosthetic covers for amputees.
00:58.6
All Else, led by its founders Macaulay Wanner and Ryan Palibroda,
01:02.9
also worked with its amputee models on apparel that fit their personalities.
01:07.4
It also designed new covers for him for this event.
01:10.9
The amputee models and the designers were met with a standing ovation after their show.
01:15.9
They really worked with us in terms of, you know, what our styles were in a simple questionnaire.
01:22.0
And so, yeah, they really thought of who we are as people.
01:24.8
And showcasing their art through us.
01:27.5
Domingo has a very full schedule.
01:29.8
He does commercial modeling, he is training for his next Paralympics,
01:34.2
all while auditioning for roles in TV and movies.
01:37.6
A couple of ads coming out this year, you know, hoping to get a, you know, in a movie or a TV series this year as well.
01:44.0
So just constantly working and auditioning.
01:46.3
You know, hopefully the experience with Vancouver Fashion Week will hopefully open me up more to maybe doing that more, a little bit more full time.
01:54.8
The Phil Canadian is also a regular 5K runner in Toronto and has even run in London.
02:00.6
He says he was determined to turn his life around after both his legs were amputated in order to inspire others like him who face challenges each day because of their disability.
02:12.6
His hope, to make them realize that there is a full life waiting for them if they so choose.
02:18.2
I was told I was never going to walk again.
02:21.2
And now I am actually walking on two legs.
02:24.0
I'll be at prosthetics.
02:25.9
And to represent people like myself in media, whether that's in fashion, the way that we're doing it now, in commercials, in prints, and in movies,
02:34.2
it's really a way for me to showcase that we are just part of society and we have to be represented and seen out there.
