Because of limited mobility,

people are also not being able to go to physical branches, etc.

It further accelerated the adoption of consumers of digital channels.

Mobility will be key to recovery
05:05.9
because we have relaxed some of our quarantine methods
05:10.2
and we have allowed more transportation to come out.
05:14.6
That's going to prove to be better for demand.
05:17.8
If we do follow the health protocols,
05:20.5
the ability of people to move around
05:22.0
will likely contribute better to growth.

We have covered the journey of our young democracy.
07:04.4
In ANC, we were witnesses to the defining moments
07:07.2
of Philippine history that influenced the world.
07:18.9
This is the Philippines.
07:49.9
Beijing refused Manila's claims
07:52.2
on alleged reclamation activities in Escoda, Seoul.
07:56.3
The Philippines deports over 100 Chinese workers
07:59.5
working in an illegal pogo hub in Tarlac.
08:03.4
The ombudsman lifts the suspension order
08:05.2
on dozens more NFA employees
08:07.3
linked to the alleged disadvantageous sale
08:09.5
of government's rice buffer stock.
08:12.9
We'll tackle this with Rosendo So,
08:14.7
President of Agriculture Group, SINAG.
08:17.9
And former Senator Bam Aquino
08:19.8
set to lead a new political party
08:21.5
for the 2025 polls.
08:25.9
I'm Stanley Palisada.
08:27.1
Dateline Philippines begins right now.
08:29.5
For those of you watching us on YouTube and Facebook,
08:32.9
nice to have you with us.
08:34.0
Stopping the midday news,
08:35.5
a strong denial from China
08:37.2
over its alleged reclamation attempt
08:41.5
Beijing's foreign ministry
08:42.6
calling the accusations from Manila
08:44.3
fabricated and purely groundless.
08:47.6
The Philippine Coast Guard reported
08:49.3
what it called the sorry state of Escoda Shoal
08:52.2
due to coral dumping.
08:55.0
It suspects the activity could be
08:56.6
a prelude to island building.
08:58.8
China, though, is accusing the Philippines
09:00.9
of trying to mislead the international community
09:03.9
by spreading rumors.
09:07.6
it vows to intensify maritime patrols
09:10.5
to deter Beijing's illegal activities.
09:14.2
We are alarmed by all of this development
09:16.8
at kaya the National Task Force West Philippine Sea
09:19.8
led by Secretary Año
09:20.8
has already directed
09:21.7
mas maigting na pagbabantay
09:24.1
sa lahat ng mga features natin
09:26.9
at lahat ng mga features within
09:28.8
At sa West Philippine Sea
09:29.7
within our 200 nautical
09:31.4
exclusive economic zone
09:32.9
kasi wala pong magbabantay dyan
09:35.9
It is our responsibility
09:37.0
under international law
09:39.2
na bantayan at siguruhin
09:40.9
na yung environment dyan
09:42.4
at hindi nasisira
09:43.8
at hindi nagkakaroon
09:45.5
ng mga reclamation activities.
09:48.5
China continues to claim
09:50.2
almost the entire South China Sea
09:52.3
despite an arbitral ruling
09:53.8
that already invalidated
09:55.6
its so-called nine-dash line.
10:00.3
ay parallel probe
10:02.9
of controversial Bamban Mayor
10:06.1
as questions about her nationality
10:09.6
to illegal Pogo operations emerge.
10:12.6
Victoria Tulad reports.
10:17.1

10:19.0
Bamban Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo
10:21.0
posed with her constituents
10:22.7
as she greeted them
10:24.3
a Happy Mother's Day.
10:26.5
she attended the flag-raising ceremony
10:28.4
and met with local officials.
10:30.9
Messages of support
10:31.9
poured in for Guo
10:36.3
became controversial
10:37.3
after being linked to Pogos,
10:39.6
our Philippine offshore gaming operators
10:42.5
in a compound owned
10:44.0
by Baufu Corporation.
10:45.9
The said compound
10:48.3
the Municipal Hall of Bamban.
10:50.9
The Pogos have already been raided
10:54.4
In a Senate hearing last week,
10:56.1
the Pogos Hongsheng
10:58.4
were linked to scams,
11:00.9
and possible hacking
11:01.8
of government websites.
11:03.7
Guo denied being connected
11:06.4
a former incorporator
11:07.6
of Baufu Compound.
11:10.3
during the hearing
11:11.3
was Guo's alleged
11:12.7
dubious identity.
11:14.6
Walang school record
11:16.0
dahil homeschool daw sila.
11:18.5
Nung tinanong ko sila
11:20.0
alin yung homeschool provider nyo,
11:23.5
Late registration
11:26.2
No hospital record.
11:27.8
These revelations,
11:28.4
raised further suspicion
11:30.3
from the lawmaker.
11:32.9
na Chinese talaga
11:35.0
si Mayor Alice Guo?
11:37.3
Si Mayor Alice ba
11:38.7
at ang mga tulad niyang
11:40.8
may mga mahiwagang nakaraan
11:45.3
na pinapasok ng China
11:47.7
sa ating gobyerno
11:49.6
para magkaroon sila
11:51.4
ng mabigat na impluensya
11:53.6
sa politika sa Pilipinas?
11:57.0
Marami ng ibang kasong
12:00.7
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian
12:05.6
marunong na rin sila
12:06.5
magpatakbo ng kandidato.
12:08.3
Ang daling kumuha
12:08.9
ng legitimate passport
12:10.3
dahil meron na silang tao
12:11.7
sa loob ng sistema
12:13.0
eh naproproteksyonan na
12:16.1
Ontiveros further said
12:20.5
for mayor in 2022.
12:22.4
According to those
12:24.3
talked to, however,
12:25.6
they have known her
12:26.4
since she was a child.
12:28.4
Nakikita namin siya
12:29.6
na matapat talaga
12:32.5
80 years old pa lang siya
12:33.5
kaya kilalang kilala namin
12:35.1
si Mayor Alice Go.
12:37.6
yung mga kapatid niya ma'am
12:40.7
will be conducted.
12:41.9
One of the things
12:42.5
senators want to know
12:46.8
The Commission on Elections
12:48.0
said no one filed
12:49.6
a disqualification case
12:55.7
Ano po ibig sabihin?
12:56.9
Wala po kaming karapatan
12:59.5
na certificates of candidacy.
13:01.5
Kahit pang maaaring mali
13:03.5
o nagsisinungaling,
13:04.9
hindi po nire-require
13:07.7
ng dagdag na dokumento
13:09.2
para lang patunayan
13:10.3
na ikaw ay of age.
13:11.4
Wala pong birth certificate
13:14.0
Partylist representative,
13:16.0
may also hold an inquiry
13:19.9
it's a possibility
13:22.2
to have a parallel investigation
13:24.6
here in the House
13:26.5
of Representatives
13:28.4
this is very serious
13:29.7
and at the same time
13:43.0
167 Chinese nationals
13:45.2
who were arrested
13:46.0
for illegally working
13:50.0
have been deported.
13:51.6
They were escorted
13:52.3
by Philippine authorities
13:55.0
to Shanghai, China.
13:58.0
in the investigation
13:58.4
of the immigration
14:05.1
Davao Representative
14:06.4
Pantalion Alvarez
14:08.8
before a House inquiry
14:14.4
had filed a complaint
14:17.0
accusing the former
14:19.7
disorderly behavior
14:21.7
the code of conduct
14:22.6
of the lower chamber.
14:24.4
This after Alvarez
14:26.4
for the armed forces
14:29.2
for President Marcos
14:30.4
citing the rising tensions
14:32.1
in the West Philippine Sea.
14:34.4
Now the House Committee
14:35.8
will tackle the issue
14:36.9
beginning this Thursday.
14:44.1
of the violations
14:48.0
Congressman Alvarez.
14:53.2
of the investigation
14:56.8
I just want to quote
14:58.9
in the complaint.
15:02.2
that there are apologies
15:03.8
given by Congressman Alvarez.
15:06.2
the damage has been done
15:12.1
This is the first
15:13.0
committee hearing
15:15.1
where the accuser
15:21.5
were the complainants
15:27.9
Philippine Senator
15:30.6
within his colleague
15:32.0
Ronald Bato de la Rosa's
15:35.6
the upper chamber's
15:37.0
PIDEA leaks probe.
15:39.6
is leading an investigation
15:41.1
into an unverified document
15:43.1
from the country's
15:44.3
anti-narcotics agency
15:46.9
links President Marcos
15:49.9
The investigation
15:52.2
of the House of Representatives
15:54.0
the Senate is losing
15:58.5
a questionable document.
16:04.4
anything helpful.
16:07.1
Pasa po nila yan.
16:08.6
Ako, basta may hearing,
16:11.1
para bigyang linaw
16:14.7
sa tamang direksyon
16:18.2
sa kung ano-anong
16:22.1
at halos wala na rin
16:26.2
na halos personal
16:31.8
nabas na lang sila
16:38.9
the House of Representatives
16:42.2
on proposed amendments
16:43.8
Tarification Law.
16:48.8
to sell affordable
16:49.8
rice to retailers
16:53.9
House Agriculture
16:54.6
Committee Chairman
16:57.4
this will stabilize
16:59.4
and address supply issues.
17:02.8
to his Senate counterpart
17:08.3
over the proposal.
17:13.2
to revisit the law
17:22.3
have been carefully
17:25.7
to affect the progress
17:28.1
in the rice industry.
17:34.1
lifts the suspension
17:50.9
necessary documents
17:52.5
from the accused.
17:54.9
there is no basis
17:59.1
the ongoing case.
18:34.8
of the suspension
19:30.8
na maliit yung mga ibang
19:32.5
hindi naman kasalay
19:34.3
doon sa sindikato
19:38.4
with the function
19:40.3
And where do you see
19:43.0
the lifting of that
19:43.7
suspension order?
19:44.8
Are you still confident
19:48.5
what you are claiming
19:50.2
some form of corruption
19:51.7
is existing in the agency?
20:13.1
8 billion last year
20:59.6
ang i-concentrate
21:17.4
supposed corruption
21:18.1
at National Food Authority?
21:59.3
distribute the rice.
22:08.8
instead of giving
22:09.5
the National Food Authority
22:12.3
be given to the President
22:15.6
so he can mandate
22:16.6
that as he wishes,
22:23.9
What is the danger
22:25.7
of giving that function
22:28.7
National Food Authority
22:29.8
the agency has been doing that
22:31.6
for a couple of years
22:33.0
already before it was
22:34.0
taken away from it?
22:38.3
they will not give
22:42.8
give the Secretary
22:51.0
in case of emergency
22:53.8
and the Secretary
23:01.5
the Rice Competitiveness
23:04.0
for another five years?
23:05.3
This is an ongoing discussion.
23:07.2
The House of Representatives
23:08.7
as well as our lawmakers,
23:14.4
even to supply stability
23:18.4
the Competitiveness Fund?
23:21.0
it should be extended
23:32.1
encourage the farmers
23:39.1
another five years.
23:44.1
discussions continue
23:45.0
with our lawmakers
23:49.0
to the Rice Tarification Law.
23:50.7
What are your inputs there?
23:53.8
we want to present
23:55.5
the tariff collected
23:58.6
is almost 30 billion.
24:06.3
based on 30 billion,
24:26.2
all of the discussions
24:28.5
are actually involving
24:31.1
the stopgap measures
24:32.1
to at least control
24:33.7
the price of rice.
24:35.1
looking long-term
24:36.1
and looking forward,
24:37.2
really enhancing agriculture,
24:39.2
improving food supply,
24:42.7
Are we addressing this
24:43.7
with equal importance
24:47.6
through importation?
25:14.9
an opportune time
25:16.2
because right now
25:17.1
actually we're entering
25:19.0
the so-called lean months
25:21.1
agricultural provinces.
25:27.0
we have so many factors
25:32.1
affected our rice
25:33.5
production already
25:37.5
how are you seeing things?
25:39.0
What's the outlook there?
25:43.5
between the output
25:57.3
the Latina coming
26:19.1
by saying that we can
26:26.2
very little effect
26:35.1
December traffic.
26:38.9
so President of SINAG,
26:39.9
thank you so much
26:46.1
declares he is ready
26:47.7
to return to politics
26:50.1
a new political party.
26:53.4
Dateline Philippines
28:55.5
quarantine methods
28:56.8
and we have allowed
28:58.7
more transportation
29:01.2
That's going to prove
29:05.4
the health protocols,
29:07.2
the ability of people
29:09.2
contribute better
29:23.4
Thank you for watching.
29:53.4
Thank you for watching.
30:23.4
Thank you for watching.
30:53.4
Thank you for watching.
30:54.4
Thank you for watching.
30:55.4
Thank you for watching.
31:23.4
Thank you for watching.
31:53.4
Thank you for watching.
32:23.4
Thank you for watching.
32:25.4
Thank you for watching.
32:27.4
Thank you for watching.
32:28.3
Thank you for watching.
32:29.4
Thank you for watching.
32:31.5
Thank you for watching.
32:37.6
Mobility will be key
32:41.6
relaxed some of our
32:43.4
quarantine methods
32:44.7
and we have allowed
32:46.6
more transportation
32:49.1
That's going to prove
32:50.3
to be better for demand.
32:53.2
the health protocols, the ability of people
32:55.8
to move around will likely contribute
32:57.7
better to growth.
33:12.7
I liked to be a DJ
33:13.9
when I was a teenager. Really?
33:15.7
Who didn't? I was just
33:17.9
really pleasantly surprised
33:19.8
to get the call from someone in ABS
33:21.7
and saying, you know what? We have this show
33:23.9
in the pipeline and we want you to
33:25.9
co-host it with Anton Barreto.
33:28.0
Are you enjoying it? Do you like it?
33:29.5
I'm enjoying it simply because it's
33:31.8
something I'm passionate about.
33:33.6
Interior. So I get to meet different interior designers.
33:37.1
architects. I get to meet clients who are
33:39.7
passionate about design and I
33:41.6
understand the manufacturing side of it. It's like
33:43.6
a parallel work to me.
33:51.7
Welcome back, Dateline Philippines. Former Senator
34:05.5
Bam Aquino, all set to lead a
34:07.6
new political party for the
34:09.2
2025 midterm elections.
34:11.6
Aquino told ANC's Head Start
34:13.2
he left the Liberal Party back in
34:17.6
now serving as chairman of the Katipunan
34:19.7
ng Nagkakaisang Pilipinas.
34:21.7
Pilipino Party or KNP.
34:24.0
He said KNP was formed
34:25.6
in 2021 when they were preparing
34:27.5
for the presidential bid of
34:29.5
former Vice President Lenny Robredo.
34:32.4
And with a year to go
34:33.4
before the midterm polls, Aquino says
34:35.3
he's ready to return to politics.
34:39.7
After the elections, nag-usap-usap
34:41.7
sila. At this time, I was still
34:45.2
Itutuloy pa ba yung
34:46.2
partidong to? And sabi nila,
34:48.6
ang laki nang naipakita natin nung
34:50.1
kampanya. Hindi man tayo
34:51.7
wagi, pero yung paglabas
34:53.7
ng tao, yung klarong
34:55.5
paghangad ng tao for something better
34:57.4
in our country. Nakita natin, naramdaman
34:59.5
natin yan. Sayang naman kung mawawala.
35:01.7
And now that we're one year before
35:03.1
2025 and everyone's preparing
35:05.4
already, hiniling nila na maging chairman
35:07.6
ako ng partido. And I said yes.
35:09.2
Naghahandaan na kami at handaan na rin ako
35:11.4
bumalik sa larangan ng politika.
35:14.1
Aquino served as senator
35:15.5
from 2013 to 2019.
35:18.3
He failed to win his re-election
35:19.9
bid under the Otso
35:24.1
KNP is keen on forming
35:25.8
an alliance with President Ferdinand Marcos
35:27.8
Jr.'s Partido Federal ng
35:29.6
Pilipinas, this is Aquino's response.
35:34.1
Kung magkakaroon ng alliance,
35:36.0
para saan? Diba? Kung ang
35:37.7
alliance mo para lang sa eleksyon,
35:39.6
nakita natin within one and a half years,
35:42.2
wala na yan. Pero kung may alliance
35:44.1
para sa talagang kailangan ng
35:45.8
taong bayan, why not?
35:48.1
May mga issue tayo na mas mahalaga
35:51.7
mas mahalaga sa mga partido.
35:53.6
Kung yan ang batayan,
35:55.6
if we can really move our country forward,
35:57.5
maaangat natin yung bansa natin dahil magtutulungan,
36:00.3
why not? Pero right now,
36:02.0
nakikita natin, yung mga alyansa,
36:04.1
base lang sa kapangyarihan.
36:08.4
The Philippine Justice Department
36:10.2
defends government's
36:11.7
new human rights body amid
36:13.6
criticisms over its effectiveness.
36:15.9
The DOJ says the new council
36:17.6
is one of the Philippines' commitments
36:19.4
during the 75th anniversary
36:21.7
of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights
36:24.5
which happened in Geneva last year.
36:27.5
The agency believes
36:28.5
the new body will have a more
36:30.3
rational approach in addressing
36:32.4
human rights in the country.
36:38.2
nung pumunta po kami ni na
36:39.8
Executive Secretary
36:44.1
sa Geneva, doon po
36:46.1
ay nagbigay ang ating gobyerno
36:48.5
ng tatlong pledges. Ang isa doon
36:51.7
pagtatatag ng isang
36:53.5
coordinating body
36:56.0
para ipagpatuloy yung
36:58.1
human rights promotion and protection.
37:00.5
Instead na parang ginagabayan tayo
37:04.0
sa relinyon na natin.
37:05.4
We took ownership of it.
37:07.8
Ang Commission of Human Rights kasi
37:09.9
is a constitutional body.

Siya ang mga siwa at siya yung parang
37:17.3
ng ating gobyerno.
37:20.3
Wala hong conflict.
37:25.8
customers of Meralco will see higher
37:27.6
electricity rates in their next power bill.
37:30.4
This comes after the power distributor
37:32.2
announced a 46 centavo
37:34.0
hike per kilowatt hour.
37:36.0
This means a typical household
37:37.6
consuming 200 kilowatt
37:40.0
hours per month will see a
37:41.5
92 peso increase in their
37:48.1
in Cebu also told to brace
37:49.8
for higher electricity rates.
37:51.7
For the next billing cycle,
37:53.5
Ani Perez now joins us with details on that.
37:59.2
Visayan Electric President Raul
38:01.1
Lucero announced today that they will add
38:03.3
an increase of 0.86 cents
38:05.5
per kilowatt hour for the next
38:07.3
billing cycle of May to June.
38:09.2
This means that from 11.28
38:11.6
pesos per kilowatt hour, which is the
38:13.4
current rate now, they will charge
38:15.5
12 pesos and 24 cents
38:17.5
per kilowatt hour.
38:19.1
The increase is attributed to high generation
38:21.3
rates due to price hikes
38:23.1
in the wholesale electricity spot
38:25.0
market in April due to power
38:27.1
supply concerns in the Visayas grid.
38:29.8
This means that for a household
38:31.2
with an average monthly consumption
38:32.9
of 200 kilowatt per hour,
38:35.1
they will have to pay an additional 172
38:37.5
pesos for their incoming bill.
38:39.9
Generation rates are passed
38:41.3
through charges that are paid to
38:43.0
power generation companies like Visayan
38:45.0
Electric through the wholesale electricity
38:47.2
spot market. Last April,
38:49.4
the National Grid Corporation of the
38:51.0
Philippines issued several yellow
38:53.0
and red alerts, especially in the Visayas
38:55.2
grid, due to power supply
38:57.1
issues. Based on reports,
38:59.0
several power plants were on forced
39:01.0
outage, which resulted
39:03.1
that diesel power plants,
39:05.4
which are more expensive,
39:06.9
operate. And compared to
39:09.1
coal power plants, these would
39:11.1
be asked to supply power to
39:13.1
meet grid requirements, causing high power
39:15.1
prices in the wholesale electricity
39:17.2
spot market. And we
39:19.1
remember that this also happened,
39:21.0
amid extreme heat in the
39:23.1
Visayas, which also increased the demand
39:25.0
for security. Lucero added
39:27.0
that President Ferdinand Marcos
39:29.2
Jr. also asked for suspension
39:30.9
from ERC on the western
39:33.0
spot market prices, but this would
39:35.1
not take effect yet for
39:37.0
the next billing cycle, so they have to
39:39.0
increase their prices for next month.
39:41.4
Thus, Visayan Electric, they are
39:43.1
encouraging consumers to
39:45.0
be wary of their power consumption to
39:46.9
avoid bill shock, and this could be done
39:48.9
by conserving energy, by using appliances,
39:51.0
only when needed. And that's the latest
39:53.2
here from Cebu, Annie Perez,
40:21.0
Angel's Pizza now
40:25.1
of the company's sales, and
40:27.1
he plans to make it the number one pizza
40:29.0
chain in the country in five years.
40:32.9
enjoying more of the capital
40:34.8
because that's where a lot of the
40:37.0
sales and the EBITDA
40:41.0
is coming from, and also the
40:43.1
growth potential.
40:45.1
Angel's Pizza now has nearly
40:48.8
while Figaro only has some
40:50.8
60 branches. Liu explains
40:53.2
they still plan to add
40:55.1
new Figaro cafes, but
40:57.0
the coffee business in the country
40:58.7
is no longer as lucrative
41:00.8
as before. Coffee
41:02.6
is a very competitive
41:04.6
industry and a very low
41:06.7
barrier to entry, right?
41:08.7
Anyone can just open a coffee shop
41:12.2
are actually, you're seeing people shying
41:14.8
away from large coffee
41:16.7
brands. The delivery business
41:18.9
has also grown significantly since the
41:20.8
pandemic, and Liu says among
41:22.8
all its restaurants, it is the
41:24.9
pizza business that has benefited
41:27.1
the most from delivery.
41:29.0
Over 50% of sales
41:31.1
of Angel's Pizza is via
41:33.0
delivery, but they also
41:34.8
want to expand its dine-in service
41:37.1
by offering party packages
41:40.6
Yung mga provincial usually

in the first quarter of this year,

year. Jackie Pascual,
42:05.0
finance firm Home Credit also
42:06.8
planning to expand its reach to more
42:08.8
provinces in the Philippines as more Filipinos
42:10.7
lean towards installment purchases.
42:13.6
Jackie Pascual returns
42:18.8
company Home Credit Philippines,
42:20.8
is eyeing further growth this year
42:22.7
after hitting 10 million customers
42:24.7
in 2023, or 10 years
42:27.1
after it started its operations.
42:29.5
It says the company has
42:30.7
disbursed loans worth 320
42:34.4
since 2013, as more
42:37.0
Filipinos opt for installment
42:39.2
purchases. Home Credit
42:41.2
partners with shops,
42:42.9
mostly appliance and computer
42:44.8
stores, where customers may avail
42:47.0
to pay installment through the
42:50.8
Of course, the credit card and even
42:52.8
of course, formal banks,
42:55.0
formal bank accounts,
42:56.6
medyo hindi rin ganun kaganda yung penetration
42:58.7
natin sa Philippines. Kailangan pa rin talaga
43:02.9
ang access to credit,
43:05.2
especially if you're buying mga
43:06.8
items more than 5,000,
43:08.8
10,000 pesos. Mahirap talaga maglabas ng
43:10.7
isang bagsakan. In 2023
43:12.7
alone, 60 billion pesos of goods
43:14.9
were sold with the help of the company.
43:16.9
And half of the products sold
43:18.5
are mobile phones, a
43:20.5
favorite item among Filipinos.
43:23.1
But since March this
43:24.6
year, they have seen a significant
43:26.5
growth in the sale of air
43:28.7
conditioning units. That's over
43:32.8
per day. This was the time when
43:34.7
the stores were running out of air
43:38.6
happy to be part of
43:40.4
making it affordable
43:42.0
for those who can pay
43:44.6
for the loan and just that they can
43:48.6
in the hot summer in the Philippines.
43:50.5
Aside from air con, the company
43:52.5
says Filipinos use home credit
43:54.5
to purchase televisions,
43:56.3
refrigerators, and laptops.
43:58.7
But they say not all lenders
44:00.8
get easily approved.
44:02.5
We are not supporting
44:04.3
people in buying things that they cannot afford.
44:06.6
It needs to be responsible lending.
44:08.5
Non-performing loans of the company they say
44:10.4
is below 10%. They now
44:12.6
plan to expand to more provinces outside
44:14.7
Metro Manila where demand for
44:16.6
financing is growing.

Mobility will be key to recovery because we have relaxed some of our quarantine methods and we have allowed more transportation to come out.
45:32.2
That's going to prove to be better for demand.
45:35.5
If we do follow the health protocols, the ability of people to move around will likely contribute better to growth.

Another reason from the expected bonuses that we may receive during the year.
47:20.5
I do believe that in the world of luxury, and that is true for fashion, and that is true for watch and jewelry, and that is true for wine and spirits,
47:50.4
if you remain too much in the tradition, you become over the time dusted in the world.
47:56.5
If you are too much on the pure innovation side, you become short-lived.
48:01.6
So the art of luxury marketing is clearly to keep that balance right between being at the same time innovative and true to your roots.

A Filipino-American non-profit teams up with a health care provider in Virginia to bring mental health services to low-income and uninsured residents.
52:28.5
Monica Galoso has more.
52:32.8
Mental health crisis is a major issue that the world faces today.
52:37.2
According to the Worldwide Mental Health Foundation,
52:41.1
mental illness affects an estimated 950 million people worldwide,
52:46.1
and is the leading cause of disability across all age groups.
52:51.3
It's also the number one cause of suicide, which accounts for a staggering 800,000 plus deaths per year.
53:00.1
Filipino-American Juan Montero is a retired physician and humanitarian.
53:05.6
He says, while the U.S. government has done initiatives to address mental health problems,
53:11.2
there are still gaps in the marginalized and underserved communities.
53:16.1
Montero is the founder of Chesapeake Care Clinic,
53:20.7
a non-profit that provides quality medical and dental care to low-income and under-insured residents of Hampton Roads in Virginia.
53:30.3
He also established the internationally renowned Montero Medical Missions,
53:35.2
which recently collaborated with United Community Solutions,
53:39.5
a Chesapeake-based behavioral and mental care provider.
53:43.0
The cooperation aims to improve access,
53:46.1
access to mental and behavioral health care services to those in need,
53:50.6
just in time for Mental Health Awareness Month this May.
53:54.6
We can here put together something innovative,
53:59.4
something never been done in this country.
54:02.4
Put our heads together so that behavioral health challenges can be addressed.
54:11.1
Dr. Paul Aravich, meanwhile, is a neuroscientist,
54:14.6
and is Virginia's representative to the National Coalition on Mental Health and Aging.
54:20.8
He affirms that building collaborations such as this
54:24.0
is a public health approach needed to increase awareness,
54:28.2
improve resiliency training,
54:30.3
promote prevention,
54:31.4
and very importantly,
54:32.9
promote outcome data on addressing mental and behavioral health issues.
54:37.9
That's what I tell various congressional caucuses on Capitol Hill.
54:41.8
That's what I tell policymakers here in Virginia.
54:44.6
And I'd like to note that the largest minority group on Earth
54:48.5
is persons with disabilities, according to the United Nations.
54:52.4
And the most prevalent persons with disabilities
54:54.8
are those with psychiatric and neurological problems.
54:58.3
And many of the neurological problems also have behavioral problems.
55:02.7
Kimberly Jackson, founder and CEO of United Community Solutions,
55:07.6
says she is proud of this innovative partnership
55:10.5
with Montero Medical Missions and Chesapeake Care Clinic.
55:14.6
For her, it's about delivering holistic health care solutions
55:18.3
that prioritize mental, behavioral, and medical outreach,
55:23.4
something that was never done before.
55:25.8
Together, we will strengthen our advocacy
55:28.1
for equitable access to top-notch health care services for all.
55:33.7
And by doing so, we will stay ahead of the curve
55:37.0
by innovating and adapting to our community involvement needs.
55:44.6
Montero has helped improve access to health care
55:47.8
for people locally and throughout the world
55:51.0
for decades through the Chesapeake Care Clinic
55:53.6
and the Montero Medical Missions.
55:55.5
This recent collaboration with United Community Solutions,
55:59.4
he says, is a fulfillment of his dream
56:01.8
to make sure that no one is left behind,
56:05.1
especially in addressing mental and behavioral health problems
56:09.1
of those underserved.

An exhibit in Glendale, California
56:20.7
is putting the spotlight on the art of Filipino-Americans.
56:26.0
From stylized weavings like the Philippine Banig
56:29.0
to a giant paper origami boat, the Bangkang Papel,
56:32.7
the Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale, California
56:35.0
recently opened the exhibit Filipino-California,
56:38.3
Art and the Filipino Diaspora.
56:40.4
It brings the works of Filipino-American modern artists
56:42.9
and traverses diverse styles of art,
56:44.6
from paintings, drawings, to sculptures,
56:48.0
installations, conceptual art, and beyond.
56:50.8
The quality of the art was so good that it was easy
56:53.7
and it really came together in the gallery.
56:57.1
The artists were able to sort of take it over,
56:59.7
exploit every single nook and cranny of the gallery,
57:02.0
and it's been a lot of fun.
57:04.6
Seven artists were invited to showcase their unique pieces,
57:08.2
namely Eliseo Art Silva,
57:11.0
Anthony Francisco,
57:12.3
Mary Rose Cubarubias Mendoza,
57:17.8
All of them say the exhibition is a step closer
57:20.2
to achieving a bigger goal for all film artists.
57:23.5
It means that we're not narrowing the gap
57:26.5
of fulfilling our dream to have a Filipino-American museum
57:30.2
at the National Mall in D.C.
57:32.4
because it means that we have arrived, you know,
57:34.4
until our stories are valid enough to become works of art
57:37.4
and shown in American museums.
57:39.7
I feel we're not here yet.
57:42.0
One of the featured artists in the exhibition
57:44.2
is celebrated multi-awarded artist Anthony Francisco,
57:47.7
whose designs were part of some of Marvel movies' global blockbusters.
57:51.5
Francisco says there's much more in store
57:53.4
for Filipino-American representation in the near future,
57:56.4
and he wants to help achieve that.
57:58.5
One of my goals really is to put,
58:00.2
I guess, Filipinos on the map with a feature film I'm developing.
58:04.8
I think once that comes out,
58:06.3
and if that does really well,
58:07.8
then I'll feel like, yes,
58:10.0
it's like more, you know, I did more.
58:12.9
I can't take both,
58:14.1
but I'll take credit of every single leaving
58:15.5
because the process is also very community-based.
58:20.7
Filipino-California, Art in the Filipino Diaspora
58:23.5
runs until September 8th at the Forest Lawn Museum.
58:26.9
Its director, James Fishburne, says the exhibit is free
58:29.5
and is open to the public Tuesdays to Sundays
58:31.8
from 10 in the morning to 5 p.m.

59:00.5
The Cavaliers, who are already playing

without starting center Jarrett Allen,
59:04.8
also missed their superstar, Donovan Mitchell,
59:07.7
who was sidelined with a calf injury.

where users can obtain real-time responses
59:46.1
During the launch on Monday,
59:47.5
OpenAI researchers also used ChatGPT 4.0
59:51.0
to analyze data on a graph,
59:53.7
provide real-time language translations,
59:56.0

60:00.9
Okay, so ChatGPT,
60:02.6
this is what I ended up with.
60:03.7
How does this look?
60:06.7
Now you've isolated the term with X on one side
60:09.6
and it looks like 3X equal 3.
60:12.7
What do you think we should do next?
60:14.0
X to solve for X.
60:16.2
Can you give me another hint?

and you want to find the value of X.
