More than a quarter of a million — 265,818 — people across 169 countries took part in the 11th edition of the Wings for Life World Run on Sunday (May 5). United by the motto 'Running for those who can’t', runners, walkers and wheelchair users gathered at one of 345 starting points across the globe or participated individually using the Wings for Life World Run App in what former British Olympian Colin Jackson described as "the largest running event in the world." Participants covered an average distance of 11.5km each with Japan's Tomoya Watanabe setting a new event record by reaching 70.09km as the men’s winner, while Dominika Stelmach of Poland ran 55.02km to claim the women's title. According to Wings for Life CEO, Anita Gerhardter, the 2024 edition raised a new single-year record of €8,104,499 with all proceeds funding research projects and clinical trials to find a cure for spinal cord injury. - Report from Reuters For more ABS-CBN News, click the link below: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?
